Pop-Up brake Block

Tells you when it needs changing.

The brake pads on your car most likely have a wear indicator to let you know when you are at risk of leaving the road and having a ‘rapid unscheduled disassembly’ (Thanks Elon). The same is not true of your bicycle. OK there may be some tiny markers to show when they are done but firstly you have to peer through all the grime and secondly you have to remember to do that.

Madison Cycles sold the outstandingly good long life ‘Aztec’ brake block. Trouble was cyclists weren’t replacing them fast enough to drive repeat sales.

We invented a brake block that raised a red flag when things were getting critical. No electronics need for this type of ‘smart’ product. Just a simple one piece moulding designed to pop up when its retaining claws were worn away.
